Working With Full Moon Energy

I love talking about full moon energy! The Moon is absolutely fascinating! Think about it. We can see it with the naked eye without it blinding us, AND it physically influences our little planet Earth. As an archaeologist, I know that people have been fascinated by this cycle for thousands of years. It’s readily seen in the archaeological record spanning time and space. In non-archaeological speak that means we see the Moon’s influence throughout the different time periods, and all over the world.

The moon travels a cycle of 28 days. This means there are approximately thirteen lunar cycles in the Gregorian calendar. A full moon in general is great for growth, rebirth, and rejuvenation. Each moon has a different type of influence and energy. I will provide you with some basic information about each full moon. Also, moons can be known by different names. This is how I identify them.

The Full Moons and Their Energies

Let’s talk a little bit about each full moon energy now shall we? It’s only natural to start with:

  • September: Ah, the Harvest Moon. Crops are harvested, fall is coming and leaves start to change color. It is possible to see both the light and shadow parts of our lives as well. The energy is great for magickal workings along the lines of balance, harmony, self nurturing.
  • October: The Blood Moon. Talk about power – divinatory power. The veil is thin, the energy is pulsing. Use it to deepen your connection to Spirit. Heads up though, seeing that this energy is very powerful, you’ll want to pace yourself and make sure you understand exactly what you’re doing. There’s no rush.
  • November: The Snow Moon. Winter is coming. Our body’s cycle is in tune with the Earth. Basically, this means that we also prep ourselves (whether we realize it or not) for a ‘winter’ of some sort. The energy of this moon can sometimes seem ‘heavy’. Do what you can to counteract this type of feeling. It too will pass.
  • December: The Long Night Moon. It’s the end of the year. The cycle is ending. This moon provides the last boost of energy you need to complete things. Utilize that! Get things done. By
completing things, we’re given the chance to look back at what we’ve done, where we came from, and say goodbye to our past.
  • January: The Wolf Moon. Talk about inner conversations. This moon offers an energy suitable for introspection. Have fun talking with yourself! See what things mean to you. Seeing that this is the start of a new year, make sure you fortify yourself and those you love for the coming year.
  • February: The Storm Moon. Don’t worry, this isn’t a ‘bad’ moon. None of them are! Let’s put it this way, what’s stormy in your life? How do you solve your storms? Spring is on the way, and it’s time to start prepping for it. This moon’s energy will aid you in releasing what you need, and be thankful for what you are and what you have.
  • March: The Chaste Moon. Naturally, after the Storm Moon, comes a time of purity. Think of this moon’s energy as how a child sees their world. Everything is possible. Everything is straightforward. Laugh, love, cry, feel – fall in love with the world again.
  • April: The Seed Moon. Hello Spring! Nature is renewed. Have you ever looked at nature and marveled how resilient it is? Life is always trying to reclaim places once lost, and it succeeds. The energy this moon brings is the same for you. Plant the seeds you wish to see grow to fruition. They will succeed – if you allow them to
  • May: The Flower Moon. The days are finally getting longer. Everything is in full bloom. This moon’s energy is great for celebrations. It’s great for love. Find or rekindle the romance in your life.
  • June: The Rose Moon. Love energy! Any kind of it that is. This ranges from marriage to a successful partnership in something. Another well-known name for it is the Honey Moon. The days are getting hot, it’s humid. Nature’s passionate magic is in full force. If you have any pressing goals or desires, use the energy of this moon to see the accomplished quickly.
  • July: The Mead Moon. Listed under this moon’s energy you’ll find words like ‘strength’, ‘power’, ‘action’, ‘growth’ etc. This is the time when labors are successful. There’s an extra push to complete what needs to be done.
  • August: The Corn Moon. This moon’s energy allows for a time of reflection on the abundance of harvests in our lives. It’s a time to give thanks. It’s a time to help others, without the expectation of something in return. Listen to your intuition.

Well, there you have it. I hope you enjoy working with these full moons. As you gain more practice, you will find your own meanings for each of these moons as well.

xx,
~Caren
