My Child Remembers His Past Lives! Help! What do I do?

Child's Past LifeOkay, well first of all, let’s push the pause button, and relax for a bit.  Take a deep breath in, and an even deeper one out.  This happens more frequently than you’re probably aware of. Such memories can be difficult for your child to understand, they’ll need you now as a pillar of support. I’ll do my best to aid you in this, however, seeing this is a public forum, I will obviously respect you and your child’s privacy.  As such, the details will not be as specific as they could be. However, I will go into detail when we speak in person. So no worries there! When I use the word ‘you’ or some variant, I’m not speaking directly to you, but to all readers of this post.

To all the other readers of my blog, this question comes from a family in which a young child remembers a past life which was not the easiest due to various factors.  Please remember that all past lives are unique, just like every child is. Something that works for the child in question might not benefit another child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Let’s start now with what past lives are.  It might seem rather silly to explain the term ‘past life’. They are lives we’ve lived in the past right? Well, yes, that’s obviously true, but there is so much more to them than that.  This is not the main topic of this post so if you want to know more, read my post dedicated to that subject. There is a very brief explanation below too.

Let’s Talk Past Lives

For those of you who know me or read my blog, you know I use the term ‘Before Life’ instead of ‘Afterlife’, and I will be using it in this post. In the Before Life, we’re in a constant state of change.  Granted, there is time dedicated to adjusting to the Before Life once you’ve left Earth, but after that, you’re (well, your soul that is), is usually prepping to come back for another cycle on Earth.  The souls are always changing.  I know that might sound strange, but it’s important to understand – especially for this question.  So, I’ll repeat it: souls are constantly changing.  They’re learning, evolving, and tweaking things when needed. You’re never the same exact soul. You’re different in every life. When it is time to return to Earth, we usually forget our past lives in order to be able to concentrate on the one we’re about to live.  Notice the emphasis on ‘usually’ in the previous sentence.

past livesHow about we use me as an example? That might make it easier to follow along, Lets say my soul is in the Before Life. I’ve adjusted to being there, gone over the life I’ve just left behind with my high guide, and now we’re prepping for me to come back. I will not come back as Caren Leonie, I will likely have completely different circumstances, look completely different, have other lessons to learn or teach, most of the people will be from my soul group – but there’s no guarantee I would know that. In the life we’re living, or in any past or future ones, we have a purpose, we have lessons to learn and teach.

You all know who I am in this current life: Very Independent, Healer, Scientist, Extremely connected to Spirit yet down to earth, Teacher, Author, Musician, Singer, Psychic Medium, Native American, Stubborn, Passionate, Successful and much more.

Imagine this: In my next life, I could be completely the opposite of what I am in this one. Luckily, I forgot my past lives right? Think about this…what happens if I don’t?  What happens if  I know exactly who I was? If it fits with the life I’m currently living, then great! But what happens if it doesn’t?  Let’s say I died in a plane crash in a previous life, and am petrified of flying (I didn’t and I’m not).  But what happens if my father or mother is a pilot, and we’re constantly flying; me with my fear of flight and all, still there in my current life? How can I explain that?  I’d be one scared little kid. Here’s another example: in all my lives, I’m extremely connected to Spirit (although not always open about it). What happens if I’m born into a situation, where I remember that, but am constantly told that’s wrong or (cue the sarcasm here) my personal favorite: that it is work of the devil. What if I’m punished for that connection, or what if someone tries to fix it? I’d be one confused little kid. How would I know which memory is from which life – I’d clearly remember both lives.

Past lives are forgotten in order for us to be able to live in the present.  If we remembered them, that would be such a burden, even when they were wonderful lives.  No one wants to introduce themselves by using their name from a past life right?  That happens though.

childandlandscapeWorking with children and young adults is a large part of my life, and I’ve heard a lot. I’ve listened to memories (spanning across millennia) of happiness, exploration, violent deaths, children medicated to fix connections to Spirit, from many people. I listened to them with an open mind, but didn’t rule out that these might be imaginations. All of these were explained with such vivid details – sketch artists could, and did draw them. Details down to names and dates were given.  Guess what, I went all academic scientist on them and cross checked all the details – not a single one was wrong. They proved it.

As someone who remembers her past lives, it is not easy to deal with.  As a child, it was maddening.  There is one main thing a parent should do, many shouldn’t dos, and endless could dos.

  • Should do: Listen.  Don’t just hear them.  Actually listen. Your child needs this. Don’t freak out.  If it isn’t easy for you to talk to them about this – don’t. Just listen. Just be there.  Your presence means more than you know. This doesn’t mean you have to accept what they’re saying, just don’t deny it. They need to feel accepted and safe.
  • Shouldn’t dos: Judge.  This isn’t helpful for anyone. Point blank. Tell them to stop imagining things – that it isn’t real, Tell them to stop seeking attention, Call them names: Liar, Insane, Freak (yes, I’ve heard this more than once from parents about their kids), etc. Refuse to talk about it – you’re essentially ignoring them. Medicate them before seeking professional help – there are cases when this is needed, but check with professionals, get multiple references – if you want, try different fields of specialization. These are only some ideas of what you shouldn’t do.  Can you think of any more?
  • Could dos: Talk about it – help them understand it, find someone similar for them to talk to, read books together about the topic, write down the memories in story format, comfort them when needed help them understand who they are in this life,  explain to them how main stream society works.  See?  There are so many things you could do.  I’m sure you can think of more.  Am I right?

Past lives can be wonderful or terrifying.  Sorting through memories and correctly placing them can be rough. Your child needs to know you’re there for them through thick and thin.  They need to know you care.  They need to feel your love.  If acceptance comes, it’ll come in time. In the meantime, try to start with listening.

xx,
~Caren
